Everyone who knew him was worried that if he left the Club, he may struggle with laminitis again due to the change in grass and management. In 2011 he was advertised for sale once again, but sadly his laminitis flared up again making it difficult to sell him. It meant Boyo would either have to be muzzled or stabled during the summer months to prevent him getting sore front feet and it was a long, hard task for his owners to get him sound again. In 2010, Boyo developed laminitis, so had to have his management changed dramatically as he had lived out 24/7 up to that point. Each time someone outgrew him, he was snapped up by another ARC member as everyone could see what a great pony he was. He then went into the vet hospital and had to have a general anaesthetic to remove the tooth, then he went back to see a dental specialist at the vets in January, when he had a filling put on another molar and a bit of work done. He has to have his teeth done regularly (every 3 months) by our vets for this reason and at the end of 2017, he broke a molar which was already decayed. He’s very popular with our taller riders as he’s a big horse, but not too chunky so is good for working on seat and leg position.Īchil is the proud owner of a very expensive set of teeth! When we buy our school horses one of the first things we do is have their teeth checked and we were aware right from the start that Achil had “problematic teeth” due to the shape of them and the decay on a few molars. Achil is well schooled both on the flat and jumping and is a very popular riding school horse due to his incredibly friendly nature.Īchil takes part in intermediate/advanced lessons and also the RGU lessons and competitions when they host them at our centre.

The traits in the colt (male young horse) are combined adding the traits of the mare (female horse) to the end of the traits of the stallion (male horse). A horse can have a maximum of five traits, although only four of the five can be upgraded. When you breed a horse, he will inherit the traits of his parents.
